Manchester City: Can Community Shield’s young stars solve Julian Alvarez’s exit puzzle for Pep Guardiola?

Norwegian midfielder Bobb, whose talent was developed through City’s youth system, made 26 first-team appearances in all competitions last season, including two as a starter in the Premier League.

City were on the verge of losing for the fourth year in a row in the Community Shield, the match traditionally fought between the league champions and the FA Cup winners.

Alejandro Garnacho, who scored in United’s 2-1 FA Cup final win over City, scored again in the 82nd minute at Wembley, with Bobb showing his ability to create space and cross for Bernardo Silva, who headed in an equaliser in the 89th minute.

“It’s a great feeling, the first time we’ve won it in three, four years and to do it with a young group is great,” Bobb said. “We were confident the whole time. We kept going, didn’t get too down.”

Former England striker Ian Wright called Bobb “one of the most exciting young players in the game” in an interview with ITV, adding: “When he gets it under control he goes from zero to very quickly.

“He was the one who captured people and everything that was really positive came from Bobb.

“When you have someone who wants to hire players, people get off their seats.”
