The Dallas Cowboys have traded cornerback Nahshon Wright to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for cornerback Andrew Booth, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported.

Pelissero indicated that the transaction will be final “pending the medical examination.”

Wright made five tackles in 12 appearances for the Cowboys last season, while Booth made eight in 17 games.

Both were listed as reserves on the team’s first unofficial depth charts of the season.

According to Spotrac, the deal will increase the Cowboys’ salary cap for 2024 by $400,000 and decrease the Vikings’ by the same amount.

Dallas adds $400,000 to the salary cap for 2024, while Minnesota saves about the same amount this season.

About the unofficial Vikings depth mapBooth was behind starters Shaq Griffin and Byron Murphy, Jr. and reserves Akayleb Evans and Fabian Moreau.

The Cowboys, meanwhile, had listed Nahshon Wright as a backup option behind Trevon Diggs, Jourdan Lewis and DaRon Bland.

Wright was selected by the Cowboys in the third round of the 2021 NFL draft.

He is the second top-100 pick from that draft to be traded away from Dallas, which last year traded 44th pick Kelvin Joseph in another cornerback swap with the Miami Dolphins.

He will now join his cousin Mekhi Blackmon in Minnesota, though the injured cornerback will miss the entire 2023 season with a torn ACL. Wright could play a key role as Blackmon’s replacement.

Wright told Blackmon on X that the two would play together “at some point in time.”

Booth was selected by the Vikings in the second round of the 2022 draft.

After an injury-marred rookie season, he struggled to climb Minnesota’s depth chart. He could get another chance in Dallas as he works with defensive backs coach Al Harris, who is known for his work developing Diggs into one of the Cowboys’ stars.

It’s unclear whether either cornerback will be available for their new teams’ season openers. The Vikings open preseason Saturday against the Las Vegas Raiders, while the Cowboys face the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
