Apex Legends Akimbo Weapons Explained – Destructoid

Apex Legends Shockwave Season 22 is now live, bringing a new map and other additions to the game. One of those new features is the introduction of Akimbo weapon mode. This refers to the dual use of weapons in Apex Legendswhere you hold certain weapons in both hands to deal damage.

Although akimbo weapons are fun to use in Apex LegendsThere are a few things to keep in mind when using two P2020s or two Mozambiques at once. There are certain buffs and nerfs associated with these combinations. For starters, weapons in akimbo mode will turn into automatic weapons, meaning you can just hold that trigger and the weapon will continue to fire.

There are no optics available when weapons are in akimbo mode, so you only have the option to fire these weapons from the hip. To make up for this, Apex Legends Players who wish to re-enable the optic can holster the second weapon using the select fire toggle input.

Respawn has added a higher rate of fire and doubled the magazine size for akimbo weapons. However, there will be a longer reload time (due to having to reload two weapons at once). Since akimbo works in hipfire mode, looking through sights while aiming will reduce hipfire spread slightly, so even if no optics are present players should remember to aim through sights for better accuracy.

Until now, akimbo mode has only been available for the P2020 pistol and Mozambique shotgun, making it possible to have two P2020s or two Mozambiques in the fight. Akimbo weapons have added a whole new layer to the way combat plays out in Apex Legendsand while there are only two weapons that you can use with two hands so far, maybe one day we will be able to use two Wingman at the same time.
