Sky Sports reporter confirms optimism surrounding West Ham United transfer

West Ham United are looking for a new right-back this summer and are currently in talks with Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

New manager Julen Lopetegui is making major changes at the club this summer after replacing David Moyes.

Since his arrival, the Hammers have signed players for various positions and strengthened their squad.

The east Londoners will be hoping to build on their top-half finish in the Premier League last season and the Hammers board believe Lopetegui is the right person to take the club further.

West Ham United were interested in Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui, but they were unable to reach an agreement with him.

Now they are targeting Wan-Bissaka, who Man United want to sell as he enters the final year of his contract with the club.

According to information provided by Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth to GiveMeSport, the English defender’s transfer to the London Stadium could happen soon.

He said:

“As for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, personal terms still need to be agreed with him.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham United?

“But as it stands, the deal has not been finalised yet, so Manchester United believe that until it is, we should assume he remains a Manchester United player.

“So it’s close, it’s moving. The conversations are continuing. We still expect, as it stands now, like there’s a cautious optimism that that’s going to happen.”

Manchester United’s right-back is known for his defensive qualities and West Ham need reliability in defence.

Their defence has been shaky for a long time, especially last season when they conceded 74 goals in the Premier League.

West Ham United are planning to overhaul their defence

The Hammers want Wan-Bissaka to be part of their defensive overhaul, which is why they signed centre-back Max Kilman this summer.

More transfers are expected at the London Stadium this summer as Lopetegui is keen to continue spending money on new players for his club.

West Ham have already strengthened their positions with the arrivals of Kilman, Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham, Niclas Fullkrug and Crysencio Summerville.
