Noah Lyles Reacts to Winning the Olympic Men’s 100m Title | Sports

World sprint champion Noah Lyles has revealed the last three words he said to himself as he stood in the starting blocks before capturing Olympic gold in the men’s 100 metres.

The American crossed the finish line in 9.79 seconds, beating Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson by just five thousandths of a second at the Stade de France on Sunday (August 4).

In an interview after his victory, Lyles told the BBC he expected it to be a neck-and-neck race.

He said, “I have a biomechanist who said, ‘It’s going to be close,’ and he was right.”

Then Lyle was asked, “What was the final word for yourself in those starting blocks?”
