Lance Lara’s 90-point ride wins PBR Stockyards Showcase | PBR

FORT WORTH, Texas – During the 65th edition of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Stockyards Showcase at the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, Lance Lara (Snook, Texas) won the event thanks to an impressive 90-point drive in his final out.

After shedding Saunders test flight (JD Nix Rodeo Co.) in the opening round in 2.11 seconds, Lara recovered to the top Hard Rock (Braun Bucking Bulls) for a monstrous, event-high 90 points to seize the lead in Round 2.

The event win earned the Texan a critical 47 Challenger Global points.

João Henrique Lucas (Bastos, Brazil) and Arisson Pereira (Ivate, Brazil) both went 1-for-2 and tied for second place.

Both riders failed to make it to 8 on lap 1, with Lucas pulling away Maniac (Universal Pro Rodeo/Delmas/Williams) in 2.78 seconds while his compatriot lost the rope after a heartbreaking 7.32 seconds on board Spider-Man (7.32 seconds).

However, both riders recovered, with Lucas on top CMSR 625 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) for 86 points and Pereira riding CMSR 014 (Stockyards Pro Rodeo) matched him in Round 2, earning both Brazilian cowboys a spot on the podium.

The silver finish earned Lucas and Pereira 27.5 Challenger Global points.

Was in fourth place Jean Fernandes Pereira (Crixas, Brazil).

Like the Cowboys above him in the rankings, Pereira had to fight back after being unseated in the opening round as Nerve damage (Universal Pro Rodeo/Delmas/Williams) defeated him in 4.08 seconds.

Undeterred, the veteran charged out of the parachutes Hammered again (Campbell Cattle Co/Cannon Cattle Co) in the final round for 84 points to move up the leaderboard.

The second round ride earned Pereira 18 Challenger Global points.

Rounding out the Top 5 was Zeke Martinez (Laredo, TX).

The Texan took an early lead by driving Frank (Campbell Cattle Co) for 83.5 points in Round 1, but was passed over Yes Yes Yes (Campbell Cattle Co) in a thrilling 7.78 seconds in round 2.

Martinez returned home with 21 Challenger Global points.

Challenger Global points contribute to the Challenger Global Standings and the Top 40 will compete at the end of the season in the PBR Challenger Series Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada, held alongside the PBR Teams Championship. A select number of riders from the top of the Challenger Global Standings 2024 will receive a place in the elite Unleash The Beast 2025.
