India’s schedule for day 3 of Paris Olympics: Focus on shooters Manu Bhaker, Arjun Babuta and Ramita Jindal

India claimed its first medal at the Paris Olympics when shooter Manu Bhaker won a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event on Sunday, July 28.

Bhaker became only the 8th Indian female athlete to win a medal at the Olympics. The 22-year-old is also the first female shooter from India to win a medal at the Summer Games.

There was more good news from the shooting sports as Ramita Jindal and Arjun Babuta qualified for the finals of the women’s 10m air rifle and men’s 10m air rifle respectively.

Shuttler PV Sindhu and boxer Nikhat Zareen also started their Olympic campaigns in style as they won their first bouts with ease. While Sindhu defeated Maldives’ Fathimath Abdul Razzaq in the group stage of the women’s singles, Nikhat Nikhat Zareen reached the pre-quarterfinals of the women’s 50kg Olympics with a tough win over Germany’s Maxi Carina Kloetzer
