The whole world was concerned about French cyclist Loana Lecomte at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris after she suffered a serious fall during the women’s cross-country mountain bike race on Sunday.

Lecomte fell while running the women’s downhill rock garden in a mountain bike race at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. She had to be carried off the course on a stretcher to receive medical attention.

According to French reporter Nicolas Georgereau, the 24-year-old cyclist fell headfirst and was then hit on the head by her bike, losing consciousness for a few moments.

She did not move after falling to the ground, although cameras quickly panned away from her. Despite concerns for her well-being, no replays of the incident were shown.

French media L’Equipe reported that Loana Lecomte suffered head injuries and a “minor jaw injury” in the accident.

Lecomte was one of the big favourites for the race and could count on the support of the local crowd as she climbed to third place, until she crashed.

This is what Loana Lecomte looked like after being treated by medical staff at a local hospital.

In the end, the gold medal went to Pauline Ferrand-Prevot, Loana Lecomte’s teammate, much to the delight of the predominantly French crowd that had come to Paris in large numbers.
