Golfers raise support for charity at Scenic Heights Golf Course

Clubs were waved at a charity event on a golf course in Wattsburg on Sunday morning.

Barnhart Transportation teamed up with Shriner’s Children Erie and the Barber National Institute to raise money at Scenic Heights Golf Course on Sunday.

The money raised will benefit Shriner’s and the Barber Institute so they can improve their community services in Erie.

140 golfers teed off and played an 18-hole scramble, throwing the ball highest, before concluding with a steamed rib and seafood dinner.

“We at Barnhart are truly honored to receive so much support from the community and our golfers year after year. It really helps us fulfill our mission of giving back to the community,” said Sueann Wiest, vice president of communications for Barnhart.

According to Weist, the event raised more than $80,000 last year and she hopes to surpass that this year.
