Motorcyclist drives into ambulance


Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of an adult male driver. The crash occurred at approximately 1:26 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024.

According to the preliminary investigation, a 2024 ambulance was traveling south on U.S. Highway 10 north of Pleasanton, NE, to transport a patient to Kearney. The ambulance was followed by a 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by a man. The ambulance slowed to meet another called ambulance and the motorcycle struck the rear of the ambulance. The driver of the motorcycle, identified as Jacob A. Kimberly, 29, of Holdrege, Nebraska, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers were assisted at the scene by members of the Kearney/Buffalo County Fatality Accident Investigation Team (FAIT), the Loup City Volunteer Fire Department, the Pleasanton Volunteer Fire Department, CHI Good Samaritan Hospital paramedics, the Nebraska State Department of Roads and the Buffalo County District Attorney’s Office.

Relatives have been notified. The investigation is ongoing.
