Charith Asalanka to lead SL in T20I series against India

Asalanka replaces Wanindu Hasaranga, who stepped down as captain after the T20 World Cup. The revamped squad also sees the departure of the experienced Angelo Mathews and the veteran Dhananjaya de Silva and the arrival of other senior players in Dinesh Chandimal, Kusal Janith Perera, marking major changes from their dismal World Cup campaign.

Moreover, Chamindu Wickramasinghe, Binura Fernando and Avishka Fernando are in favour while Sadeera Samarawickrama and Dilshan Madhushanka are out. Avishka was the highest run-getter among Sri Lankan players in the recently concluded Lankan Premier League. Kusal Perera also impressed with a 296-run tally at a strike-rate of 169. On the bowling front, left-handed seamer Binura Fernando makes a comeback to the national team after taking 13 wickets in eight outings in the LPL.
