“So much easier”: Robert Whittaker looks to the future as a gamer or UFC post-fight analyst

At 33 years old, former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker may not be considering retirement, but the Australian kid certainly has plans. An avid gamer and streamer, Whittaker revealed his future plans to Daniel Cormier ahead of his fight in Saudi Arabia and his desire to follow in the former two-division champion’s footsteps.

In a conversation with the veteran, ‘The Reaper’ talked about his hobbies – media interactions, television gaming, etc. And when asked if he wanted to pursue these in retirement, Whittaker said:

“I enjoy it a lot, you know, I feel like it’s a skill set that I can develop in, and it’s a lot easier to get punched in the face, right?”

Whittaker even revealed that he likes the profile of an MMA analyst and is optimistic that he has what it takes to be an astute commentator who takes charge and delivers exciting real-time analysis for the fans.

The Aussie also reflected on the complexity of the job, interviewing fighters after commentating on the entire fight only to appear right back in the octagon to catch exclusives, all while maintaining an approachable tone. But none of that is an immediate concern for Whittaker.

Because in just a few days he will fight Khamzat Chimaev’s replacement, Ikram Aliskerov, a fighter he claims he has never heard of.

While Whittaker is all set to take on this new challenge, his former foe backed ‘The Reaper’ to beat Ikram Aliskerov’s breaks.

Israel Adesanya chooses Robert Whittaker over Ikram Aliskerov

Former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has met Whittaker twice before in the octagon and knows a thing or two about what it takes to get past the Australian.

Initially scheduled to face Khamzat Chimaev, ‘Bobby Knuckles’ found himself struggling on the mat, ready to fight a whale. Therefore, Izzy believes that the new Dagestani challenge will not be a problem for Whittaker at all.

‘The Last Stylebender’ posted his thoughts on his popular YouTube channel, placing his bets on his former foe and predicting that this would be a cracker of a fight.

Despite admitting that this would be a great opportunity for Aliskerov, the ‘Stylebender’ believes that if Bobby Knuckles were to pick up the pace, this could be over in the third round and with some unnecessary violence.
