NHSFR Summary – Team Nebraska

The National High School Finals Rodeo concluded Saturday in Rock Springs, WY. Dawson Doggett of Callaway finished in the top 20 in the average in the steer wrestling competition. Doggett was the leader in the steer wrestling after the first round with a time of 4.44 seconds. Doggett followed that up with a time of 5.23 and was among the leaders for the short go on Saturday night. Unfortunately, a no time in the short go dropped Doggett in the overall standings as he finished 17th in the average. The steer wrestling was a strong event for Team Nebraska. Carson Cooksley of Valentine finished third in the average and Wyatt Reichenberg of Harrisburg finished 8th overall. Cayson Johnston of Stapleton teamed with Reese Swanson of Arthur for a top 15 finish in the team roping. Johnston and Swanson tied for 14th in the average.

Hailey Witte (Crookston) – 10th in barrel racing
Tyley Sears (Valentine) – 17th in barrel racing
Koltdyn Heath (Minden) – 10th in bareback
Tanner Olson (Gordon) – Tied for 14th in bareback
Reagan McIntyre (Grand Island) – 15th in the breakaway
Cooper Kerner (Sutherland) – 13th in bull riding
Sutton Schrunk (Valentine) – 16th in bull riding
Grady Gorwill (Hyannis) – 19th in bull riding
Brooke Forre (Newman Grove) – 10th in girls cutting
Ava Smith (Pender) – 13th in girls cutting
Laney Hoier (Herman) – 6th in goat tying
Maci Herrington (Bassett) – 13th in pole bending
Cooper Fay (Valentine) – 14th in saddle broncs

Team Nebraska had a strong showing in the team standings. Nebraska finished 5th in the girls standings, 8th in the boys standings, and 5th in the combined standings. Texas won the team title in all three categories.
