Rishabh Pant won’t join CSK! Delhi Capitals set to retain star wicketkeeper-batter for IPL 2025, say reports

Discussions are already underway between BCCI officials and the franchise representatives regarding the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction which will start a new three-year cycle from 2025. The number of retentions, prize money etc. details are yet to be confirmed and BCCI and the IPL team representatives are awaiting a meeting. Amidst this, reports have surfaced claiming that several big players are planning to change their IPL teams during the IPL 2025 mega auction. The names include KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant. There have been reports claiming that Rishabh Pant is likely to join Chennai Super Kings in 2025. Rishabh Pant has been a close ally of MS Dhoni for a long time. He has grown up in Dhoni’s shadow and in the recent past, Pant has been spotted with Dhoni many times. During his recovery from an accident, Pant has been spending holidays with Dhoni wherever he was and has also visited Dhoni’s house for family gatherings and events. Fans have been speculating that Dhoni is probably grooming Pant as his successor in CSK and that he will be the one to take over the reins of the franchise after Dhoni’s retirement. The appointment of Ruturaj Gaikwad as CSK captain for IPL 2024 certainly threw a spanner in the works but with the rumours and reports of Pant quitting CSK, things have flared up again. According to PTI reporter Kushan Sarkar, Rishabh Pant’s relationship with Delhi Capitals is quite stable and strong and it is unlikely that he will leave the franchise. Despite DC head coach Ricky Ponting stepping down days ago, Pant shares a very good relationship with DC director of cricket Sourav Ganguly. Pant will continue as the captain of Delhi Capitals even after the appointment of the new head coach and he will also be one of the first ones to be retained. The news has also been confirmed by Times of India, Arani Basu reported and according to him, the DC management has started planning for the next season along with Pant.
