Reviving a Beloved Tradition: Children’s Day at the 2024 Lebanon Area Fair

With the Lebanon Area Fair officially kicking off tomorrow, Tom Jones and Dana Lape spoke with LebTown about the tradition of Children’s Day, which this year will be held on Monday, July 22.

Children’s Day, which Lape said is a common tradition at fairs, is held each year on the Monday following the official start of the Lebanon Area Fair. Jones said the day is open to parents and their children, ages “toddlers through teens,” or grandparents and their grandchildren from Lebanon County and surrounding areas.

“In the past, I think we’ve had several daycares that have brought kids in. But I’m not sure that’s going to happen anymore with the current employment situation, you know, staffing issues that people are having,” Jones said. Students from summer school programs at local schools may also be in attendance at Children’s Day, Lape said.
