Bronny James scores 12 points as Los Angeles Lakers narrowly defeat Atlanta Hawks 87-86 in Summer League

Bronny James had a strong performance on Wednesday night, recording his best performance in five games for the Los Angeles Lakers this summer.

The son of NBA legend LeBron James scored 12 points as the Lakers narrowly defeated the Atlanta Hawks 87-86 in Summer League play.

Bronny James started hot, making four of his first five shots, including his first 3-pointer of the summer on his 17th attempt. He finished the game 5 of 11 shooting from the field and 2 of 5 from beyond the arc.

It was a significant improvement for James, who had struggled previously, making 7 of 31 shots and 4 of 19 in his previous two games in Las Vegas.

Throughout the summer league, which includes three games in Las Vegas and two earlier games in San Francisco, James, who was selected 55th overall in this year’s draft, has averaged 5.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game on 29% shooting percentage.

Last season, during his freshman year at Southern California, Bronny James averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. He joined the team late due to surgery for a congenital heart defect discovered after he went into cardiac arrest during practice last summer.
