Gilas star BJ Villarin signs with La Salle

BJ Villarin is not going to National University to study there.

The 1.68 meter tall Gilas player has decided to join De La Salle University.

The team’s management confirmed the development to Tiebreaker Times on Thursday.

Villarin was a longtime member of the Lady Bullpups program, helping the school win the UAAP 3×3 and NBTC titles.

She also has a wealth of international experience, having played for Gilas Girls in both the 2022 FIBA Under-16 and Under-18 Asian Championships.

However, the Lady Bulldogs are shorthanded at the guard position, forcing Villarin to move to Taft Avenue.

The 19-year-old Villarin is a huge asset to Cholo Villanueva’s program, as he has brought in a top player who can accelerate his team’s rebuild.

La Salle finished UAAP Season 86 with a 7-7 record, missing the Final Four by just one game.

Villarin will be eligible for the transfer window from season 87 and will play for La Salle for five years.
