Evgeny Kuznetsov gets unconditional exemption

After several conflicting reports over the past few days, it seems Yevgeny Kuznetsov‘s time in the NHL is coming to an end for the foreseeable future. According to a team announcement, the Carolina Hurricanes have placed Kuznetsov on unconditional waivers for contract termination. Assuming Kuznetsov clears waivers, he is expected to return to Russia to play in the Kontinental Hockey League.
