Prestige Senior Living Rosemont Rodeo Returns for Free Family Fun

By Dylan Reubenking/[email protected]

Prestige Senior Living Rosemont’s annual rodeo is back for a free afternoon of country fun, including live music, a BBQ dinner, farm animals and more. The event will take place from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26.

Hogue & Moore Band will perform for Rosemont residents and their families from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Visitors can enjoy pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad, watermelon and corn on the cob from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Residents and families can interact with farm animals including a horse, donkey, goats and pigs. A member of the Washington State High School Rodeo Association will also be on hand to show off their lassoing skills.

For children, a professional face painter will be present from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. People can also participate in games such as axe throwing and hay digging with prizes.

Visitors can support the company’s fundraising effort for the Alzheimer’s Association at the bake sale.

“Every year, as a whole of Prestige, every building does a fundraiser for Alzheimer’s. At the end of September, we go to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s and see how much the buildings have raised,” said Kylie Woods, director of community relations for Prestige Senior Living Rosemont. “We have a car wash, a big spaghetti dinner, a bake sale, and all sorts of other fundraisers. Last year, we had a bake sale at the rodeo and were able to raise $1,000.”

Woods said Rosemont is excited to host a free family event for residents and the local community to enjoy.

“The main reason is the residents, but another reason that means a lot to me this year is that inflation has gotten so high that it’s hard for families to go out together,” she said. “Even going to the movies costs $10 to $15 a person, and that can get really expensive. For us, it’s really nice to know that we can have this event so that families can come and have a good meal, kids can have fun and enjoy some face painting, farm animals and the band, without any cost.”

Woods said parking will be limited at Rosemont, 215 Killion Road SE. He recommends people park behind the lot or carpool.

“Don’t assume that there’s no parking if the parking lot looks full. There’s a lot in the back where we’ll all be,” she said. “Maybe try to carpool because last year it was pretty busy. Just know that when you come here, you’re in someone else’s home. This is the residents’ home, respect the property and know that you’re making a difference in the well-being and lives of the residents by being here.”
