Halifax Panthers set for big contract increase with halfback signing new deal

Halifax Panthers are set to receive a huge boost as fan favourite Louis Jouffret is set to sign a new deal. Rugby League Live understands the Frenchman will commit his future to the club after agreeing terms on a new deal.

Jouffret, 28, is out of contract at the end of the season and has been linked with a move away from the Panthers next season. However, those reports have proven unfounded as the halfback has signed a new deal with the club.

Since arriving from Whitehaven ahead of the 2022 season, Jouffret has established himself as a fan favourite at The Shay, winning the fans’ Player of the Season award in 2023. He was part of last year’s successful 1895 Cup-winning side, making 76 appearances for Fax, scoring 31 goals.

He will be one of a growing number of players to sign new contracts with Fax for next season, with Rugby League Live revealing earlier this week that Jacob Fairbank, Ben Kavanagh and Zack McComb have all recently signed new contracts.

In terms of recruitment, Fax is reportedly looking to sign Owen McCarron and Sam Hird, among others, while Liam Finn continues to build his squad for the 2025 season.

In more pressing matters, Fax are looking to climb the Championship table. They currently sit 11th but are just four points off the play-offs.
