ATPI celebrates 30th anniversary of Golf Classic event

ATPI, the leading travel management company and global partner for the energy sector, welcomed its much-anticipated annual golf event (Thursday 27 June) for the 30th time.

To mark the significant 30th anniversary event, this year Meldrum House Hotel and Golf Course was held and provided an opportunity to raise funds and awareness for two great causes. Proceeds of over £5,000 will be split between local charity Lifestars, which supports children with additional needs in the town, and cancer research and support organisation Breast Cancer Research Scotland, selected in memory of former ATPI General Manager Helen Gordon.

The golf event is organised annually by Willie McPherson, director of business development and customer engagement at ATPI. Since the first donations were accepted nine years ago, the event has raised over £40,000 and has supported a number of charities during that time.

The 2024 Golf Classic event had sponsors at every hole, including key supporters OGV Group, Aberdeen Football Club, Aberdeen Airport, Qatar Airways, Emirates and P&J Live. The day concluded with a dinner for guests and an awards ceremony, with the winning guests receiving prizes including multi-destination holiday packages to worldwide destinations and bespoke golf clubs.

Willie has been the driving force behind the event’s success for three decades and the evening also paid tribute to his remarkable career at ATPI and his commitment to community involvement and charitable initiatives.

Commenting on the milestone event, Willie McPherson said: “This event is one that is very close to my heart and it is a huge privilege to be involved in it year after year. It is one of the highlights of my career to witness the support we have consistently given to local charities over the years. And my time at ATPI, bringing businesses together for this celebration, has been a constant joy. Of course, 30 years of the golf classic event would not have been possible without our incredible team and their hard work, as well as the support of our network of friends, business contacts and the ongoing support of sponsors.

The long-running golf classic event emphasises the importance of engaging with our customers and uniting to support incredible causes. This event showcases the range of services we offer and we look forward to hosting more in the future.”
