RTL Today – Paris 2024: Who will represent Luxembourg at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games?

Their names have been released! Here is the official Olympic selection of ‘Team Lëtzebuerg’.

Three athletes will make the ultimate dream of every top athlete come true: to compete in the Olympic Games! The Luxembourg committee has selected 13 athletes to represent Luxembourg this summer in Paris, starting on 26 July.

In athletics, Bob Bertemesthe shot put specialist, will make his second appearance at the Games after Tokyo. Three years ago he narrowly missed the final for the qualifications – this time he wants to make it to the first round.

Newcomer joins him Patrizia van der Wekena sprint sensation and Luxembourg’s rising star in the 100m category, as evidenced by her victory at the Diamond League meeting in Paris this weekend.

Also in the athletics team Vera Hoffmann, who won silver in the 1,500 meters at the 2023 Universiade, an international university competition.

Making his Olympic debut is Ruben Quarinjean, would participate in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the age of 22.

When cycling, Christine Majerus, a seasoned cyclist with four Olympic Games to her name, will use her expertise for the road race, supported by her regular team at SD Worx.

Accompanying her is Alex Kirsch, a 32-year-old cyclist from the Lidl-Trek team, who is eager to make an impression at his first Olympic Games.

In equestrian sports, Nicolas Wagner-Ehlinger returns for his second Olympic Games, where he will compete in the dressage tournament.

The swimming category will consist of: Ralph Daleiden-Ciuferri, a young athlete making his debut in the 100 meter freestyle.

Pit Small will represent Luxembourg in archery.

In table tennis, Luxembourg is represented by a trio: Sarah de Nutte, attending her second Olympic Games; Ni Xia Lian, a veteran attending her sixth Games; and Luka Mladenovica newcomer among the men.

Finally, Jeanne Lehair, the reigning 2023 European champion in the triathlon discipline, will make her debut at the Olympic Games.

They are not selected

Charles Grethena finalist in the 1500m at the 2021 Tokyo Games, is deeply disappointed after narrowly missing out on qualification this year. Despite his strong performance in Tokyo, illness earlier this spring caused him to drop down the world rankings, leaving him just three points off his spot.

Bob Jungelsknown for winning the Liège-Bastogne-Liège cycling race in 2018 and Roglic’s teammate in the Tour de France, is also missing from the selection. Kevin Enjoywho also took part in the Tour de France this year, also did not make it for the Luxembourg team.
