Gold for Tyler at karate championships

Two local karatekas achieved success at the recent UFAK Region South Karate Champs held in Swakopmund, Namibia.

Tyler Hogan and Ilhaam Amod, representing WKF Ugu Karate, won a gold and bronze medal in their division respectively.

The local club were proud of them and enjoyed seeing them win medals in some hard-fought competitions.

Thanks to their contribution, the South African contingent also had the highest medal count at the tournament.

Tyler won gold in the senior men’s kata division, while Ilhaam won bronze in the junior women’s kumite division.

Coenie Vrey, chairman of Ugu Karate, said that the hard work for these two athletes has certainly paid off.

“They are commended for their outstanding achievements in representing the region on the international stage.”
