Four new BC Hockey Hall of Fame members at upcoming Penticton gala – Penticton News

The British Columbia Hockey Hall of Fame in Penticton is preparing for its annual induction gala.

On July 19, Canadian Olympians Shea Weber and Carey Price will be officially added to the players category, Tom Kowal to the officials category, Scott Bradley to the builders category, and the 2010 Fort St. John Flyers to the event.

“The BC hockey community has become very close and rich, so we have another wonderful and deserving class of inductees,” said Jim Hughson, chairman of the BC Hockey Hall of Fame, in a press release.

“Our inductees come from Sicamous, Anahim Lake, Abbotsford, Vernon and Fort St. John. A truly provincial group and some fantastic stories of great contributions to the game.”

Weber, a native of Sicamous who later played for the Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators, is thrilled with the honor.

“It’s really a huge honor to be a BC boy in a small town like Sicamous,” Weber said. “I was fortunate enough to play my entire minor hockey and junior career in BC and this call-up definitely means a lot.”

Carey Price was a productive goalie during his 712 NHL regular season games and 92 Stanley Cup playoff games.

“I find it amazing how quickly careers come and go,” he said.

“As I sit here at home in my room full of gear and everything, it’s really humbling to have been on such an amazing ride from Anahim Lake, BC to now. It’s really been a surreal ride.”

The other newcomers are similarly honored and join the prestigious ranks of the Hall of Fame representing their home province.

Tickets for the festive gala are now available online, and everyone is welcome to join in the fun.
