One injured in rural St. Louis County

Authorities responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 53 in Grand Lake Township Sunday evening.

Just before 6:30 p.m., a Ford pickup was traveling southbound on Highway 53 when police said the driver, a 38-year-old man from Duluth, lost control on a patch of ice. The truck then left the road and overturned. The driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Speed ​​and weather were considered contributing factors to the incident, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The Minnesota State Patrol was assisted by deputies from Saint Louis County, Canosia Fire, Grand Lake Fire and Mayo Clinic Ambulance.
