Andhra Pradesh road accident: 7 killed, several injured as bus collides with auto rickshaw in Anantpur district

At least seven people were killed and several others injured when an Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) bus collided with an auto-rickshaw in the state’s Anantpur district on Saturday, police said.

The accident took place near Talagasipalli cross in Garladinne mandal while the daily wage workers were returning from work at a banana plantation near Thimmampeta.

The deceased have been identified as D Nagamma, Ramanjinamma, Balapeddayya and B Nagamma.

The injured were taken to a nearby hospital where they are being treated.

According to eyewitnesses, around 13 people were traveling in an auto-rickshaw and were identified as residents of Ellutla village in Putlur mandal.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed shock over the road accident and deeply regretted the incident and announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the dead, officials said.

Naidu directed the district officials to take steps to ensure that those injured in the incident receive the best possible medical care.
