Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, Fireworks on Coney Island July 4th

BROOKLYN, NY — The annual Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest and Fourth of July fireworks return to Coney Island on Thursday.

Here’s what you need to know about both events:

The hot dog eating contest will take place at Nathan’s Boardwalk restaurant from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The women’s race starts at 11:00 am, while the men’s race starts at 12:30 pm.

The following streets are closed for the match:

  • Stillwell Avenue between Surf Avenue and Bowery Street
  • Bowery Street between Stillwell Avenue and West 15th Street
  • Surf Avenue between West 15th Street and West 12th Street
  • West 15th Street between Surf Avenue and Bowery Street

The Coney Island 4th of July fireworks spectacular begins at 9:45pm in Steeplechase Park. The following streets will also be closed for the evening event.

  • Portions of the South Promenade and most of Surf Avenue; West 10th Street and West 21st Street.
  • Stillwell Avenue between Mermaid Avenue and Boardwalk
