Six-legged mermaid dog ‘Ariel’ adopted by surf instructors

The six-legged mermaid dog that made headlines around the world has finally been adopted. A couple who teach surfing to people with disabilities have given the pup a forever home. Now the dog can live up to her name, Ariel, inspired by Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” because of her unique appearance before surgery.

6-legged mermaid dog adopted after successful surgery earlier this year

Ariel was found abandoned in a car park in Pembrokeshire, Wales, last year. The Cocker Spaniel was born with six legs and two vulvas, with her extra limbs fused together to give her the appearance of a mermaid’s tail. After an initial examination, the vet named her Ariel, after the infamous character from The Little Mermaid.

The six-legged dog then had to undergo surgery. The pup’s story touched everyone’s hearts, and people around the world helped raise nearly $19,000 for her surgery. According to People, Ariel underwent the procedure earlier this year and it was a success. After some much-needed recovery, she has finally found a loving home to call her own.

Emma-Mary Webster and Ollie Bird adopted the six-legged mermaid dog. The surf instructors work with people with disabilities. The couple adopted Ariel while they were recovering from the loss of their previous canine companion, Pippin, a Labrador Retriever-German Shorthaired Pointer mix.

Webster and Bird wanted to welcome a new furry friend into their family. After signing up with Greenacres Rescue, they came across the six-legged dog, recommended by one of the volunteers. The couple had no idea of the dog’s popularity until they were stopped on the street for selfies.

Ariel loves her new family and enjoys the beach immensely. She often joins the couple’s surfing lessons. The participants love the six-legged mermaid dog, who has a playful personality and is always ready for a play session.
