Suriname and Mexico want to turn the series around in the second leg of the quarter-finals

MIAMI The Concacaf Nations League 2024/25 continues on Tuesday with the League A quarter-final second leg encounters, which will decide seeding for both the 2025 CNL Finals and the 2025 Gold Cup.

Canada will host Suriname in the second leg of their series after recording a 1-nil victory in the first leg in Paramaribo, Suriname. In the other match of the day, Mexico aims to make a comeback when they host Honduras after a 2-0 home win for Los Catrachos in the first leg.

The aggregate score winner will advance to the 2025 Concacaf Nations League Finals and the 2025 Gold Cup. Away goals will serve as the first tiebreaker. If necessary, extra time and penalty kicks will be played to determine a winner.

Canada vs Suriname

Canada hosts Suriname in the second leg of their series at BMO Field in Toronto, Canada.

The Reds are in the lead thanks to a late winner away Junior Hoillet in the first stage. Jonathan David provided the assist for the game winner. Canada is aiming for a return to the CNL Finals after finishing second in the 2022-23 edition.

Suriname will take the field hoping to turn the series around and make further history this campaign with what would be its first appearance in the CNL Finals. Gloofilo Vlijter led Suriname’s attack in the first leg with two shots, including a header in the 59′ that hit the crossbar.

The meeting will be the second CNL matchup and the fourth all-time meeting between the sides. Canada leads the series with three wins.

Mexico vs Honduras

Mexico will host Honduras in the second leg of their series at the Estadio Nemesio Díez in Toluca, Mexico.

Mexico will be aiming for a comeback after losing 2 nil in the first leg. The likes of Raul Jimenez, Angel Sepúlvedaand Henry Martín will be looked to for goals as Mexico looks to secure a fourth appearance in the CNL Finals.

Luis Palma scored a brace to lead Honduras to victory in the first leg. Goalkeeper Endrick Menjivar also had a great performance, keeping a clean sheet and contributing four saves.

The teams meet for the fourth time in CNL action after the two quarterfinals in the 2023-24 edition. They meet for the 47th time in total. Mexico leads the all-time series with 28 wins to nine ahead of Honduras, while nine meetings ended in a draw.
