See how a teenage reporter reacted to Mike Tyson’s nihilistic view of death – NBC New York

A teenage journalist has been praised for the way she handled an unexpectedly downbeat interview response from boxing legend Mike Tyson.

When 14-year-old Jazlyn “Jazzy” Guerra, the young journalist who posts videos under the name Jazzys World TV, asked Tyson what he wishes his future legacy will be, she couldn’t have expected the former heavyweight champion to provide an explanation on the finality of death.

“I don’t believe in the word ‘legacy.’ I just think that’s another word for ego. Legacy doesn’t mean anything. That’s just a word that everyone clung to,” Tyson said in a video posted by Guerra on November 14.

“It means absolutely nothing to me. I’ll just get through it. I’m going to die and it’s over,” Tyson continued, looking at Guerrra. “Who cares about the inheritance after that?”

‘So I’m going to die. I want people to think this is me, that I’m great?’ he continued as Guerra nodded. ‘No, we are nothing. We’re just dead. We are dust. We are nothing at all. Our legacy is nothing.”

After an awkward pause, Guerra found her composure. “Well, thank you so much for sharing that,” she said, looking up at Tyson. “That’s something I haven’t heard before, for someone to say that in response.”

But Tyson wasn’t done with his existential rant yet.

“Can you really imagine someone saying, ‘I want my legacy to be like this?’ You’re dead! Who the fuck cares about me when I’m gone? My children perhaps, or grandchildren?’ he said, now smiling at Guerra.

“That’s true,” Guerra replied with a shrug. “And thank you again so much for sharing that.”

Guerra’s chat with Tyson came a day before his scheduled match against boxer and YouTube star Jake Paul, which will stream live on Netflix on November 15.

Guerra captioned her video: “@miketyson not worried about the legacy. He’s definitely locked up for his Nov 15th fight with @jakepaul. What are your thoughts on the legacy?”

Guerra’s followers praised her for keeping her cool while Tyson rambled on about death.

“Firstly, the way you handled this unexpected response is top notch! That would have scared away so many seasoned journalists,” wrote one.

“Jazzy, you are AMAZING! That answer came out of left field and you handled it well,” another added.

Still, many of Guerra’s viewers couldn’t resist poking fun at the morbid nature of her and Tyson’s bizarre on-camera exchange, like comedian Godfrey, who noted, “Reporting from Hell, Back to you Brad in the studio.”
