Connor Stalions, the former Michigan staffer who resigned due to his role in the school’s sign-stealing scandal, currently works as an assistant on the coaching staff at Belleville High School in Michigan.

Stalion, who was hired after the regular season, has led the team’s offense since the start of the playoffs.

That school features five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, the top recruit in the class of 2025 who is currently committed to LSU. But Michigan is trying to reverse that promise and has reportedly offered him an NIL deal worth about $10 million, according to Richard Johnson of CBS Sports.

It wouldn’t be a stretch to speculate that Stalions — who once reportedly went to great and impermissible lengths to help Michigan — might put in a good word for the Wolverines with the young Underwood.

“I’m grateful to be working with Coach (Dejuan) Rogers, Coach (Calvin) Norman and the rest of the staff,” Stalions told CBS News Detroit’s Gino Vicci. “There is a very high expectation to win here in Belleville. All the players have responded very well to the quick adjustments we have made, and it is fun working with them on a daily basis.”

Stals initially spent the 2024 season at Mumford High School in Detroit as defensive coordinator and interim head coach, where he went 1-8.

As for Underwood, Johnson noted last week that the exciting young quarterback “is an LSU liability for now, but many recruiting insiders view a move to Michigan as a done deal.”

The LSU faithful may have breathed a sigh of relief when Underwood was not present for Michigan’s loss to Oregon on Nov. 2, despite rumors that he might attend the game. He was present at LSU’s loss to Alabama last weekend:

Andrew Ivins of 247Sports compared Underwood to Vince Young in his scouting report of the young prospect, calling him a “potential franchise signal caller with the ideal mix of size, arm talent and athleticism” who “projects as a multi-year impact player for a College Football Playoff candidate who, with his tools, has a chance to ultimately be a first-round pick in the NFL Draft.

Whether that contender is LSU or Michigan remains to be seen.
