16-year-old girl from Mumbai raped by Puducherry car driver and later attacked by four techies

Puducherry news: A 16-year-old girl, who had come to Puducherry from Mumbai along with her parents to celebrate Diwali at her relative’s residence, was allegedly kidnapped and raped twice by motorists and tourists within three days. The matter came to light after she was found on Puducherry Beach Road on November 1.

On October 31, police started an investigation into the case based on a missing persons complaint filed by the family.

According to police, the girl, who was staying with her parents at her relative’s house, left the house on October 30 night. She reportedly took the decision only after an argument with her parents, New Indian Express reported.

While walking away from her house, she found a car driven by Khawaja Moinuddin from Kottakuppam and told him to take her on a trip around Puducherry. However, Moinuddin allegedly gave her alcohol and took her to his house and raped her in Kottakuppam.

Later, he dropped her at Puducherry beach road. However, again four tourists from Chennai saw her and befriended her with the promise of helping, took her to their room and took turns raping her. They also kept her in detention for a day and then dropped her off at the same place, Times of India reported.

On November 1, police found her wandering on the beach road and informed her family. She was later taken to a hospital where doctors found signs of sexual assault. The girl then announced the assault during a conversation with the Child Protection Council.

So far, police have arrested four men, including a motorist from Kotakuppam and three others from Chennai. Police are also searching for another man from Chennai who is reportedly accused in the case. The arrested techies were identified as Chitharanjan from Odisha and his colleagues Dinabandhu from Odisha, Ramesh from Telangana and Pankaj from Odisha.
