Kohli credits Anushka for winning the 2024 World Cup

BARBADOS: Indian cricket star Virat Kohli has said that the credit for India’s successful win against South Africa in the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup goes to his wife Anushka Sharma. They played an exciting final against South Africa and won by seven runs. This was their second major win, with their first coming against Pakistan in 2007.

Virat Kohli posted a happy picture on Instagram with his wife Anushka Sharma to celebrate India’s victory over South Africa.

Virat Kohli thanked his wife saying, “Nothing would be possible without you, my love. You keep me humble and grounded, and your honest feedback always keeps me on track.”

Kohli played his last T20 cricket match on Saturday, leading India to a World Cup victory before announcing his retirement from T20 cricket. This was his last T20 World Cup and this is what they wanted to achieve, he said. “One day you feel like you can’t get a run, then things happen. God is great and I got the job done for the team on the day it mattered,” he added.

India won the T20 World Cup for the second time, following England and the West Indies. Defeat was almost certain for Rohit Sharma’s side, but Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah turned the tide for India in the 16th and 17th overs.

Virat Kohli was the top scorer for India in the first innings, scoring 76 runs from 59 balls, including 6 fours and 2 sixes. This was a special move for Kohli, who had just announced his retirement from T20 International cricket.
