In the opening match of tonight’s AEW Forbidden Door pay-per-view, former World Champion MJF took on CMLL star Hechicero.

Although MJF ultimately got the win, it seemed like he favored his shoulder at the end of the match.

Excalibur specifically noted in his commentary that MJF can’t afford any shoulder problems if he wants to get back in the hunt for the AEW World Championship, so it looks like there’s a storyline situation attached to that.

Before his recent return, MJF was out for six months due to injuries, including rehabbing a torn shoulder.

He spoke on Busted Open Radio about his decision to go into rehabilitation rather than undergo surgery, saying the surgery could have meant he would be ill for another six months.

MJF posted an update on Twitter after the match, writing:

“Easy dubbing.

Grabbed some ice.

Click on the payment screen.

Bagel boss time ✌🏻”

Bagel Boss is of course a classic New York bagel chain.

In an item on last week’s AEW Dynamite, MJF offered Daniel Garcia a match against him at AEW All In London at Wembley Stadium on August 25.
