Former Tallahassee lawmaker Loranne Ausley was injured in a bicycle accident on Saturday

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Former Florida District 3 Senator Loranne Ausley is recovering from neck surgery after being involved in a bicycle accident on Saturday, according to her husband Bill Hollimon.

Hollimon announced the news Sunday evening on X, formerly known as Twitter. He wrote, in part, that Ausley was injured while participating in a triathlon in North Florida. Hollimon said Ausley underwent “successful surgery” and is surrounded by family and friends as she recovers.

“This is Bill Hollimon, Loranne’s husband. Many of you may know that Loranne was involved in a bicycle accident yesterday during her triathlon in North Florida. She underwent successful neck surgery this morning and is in stable condition. Her family and friends are here me .

Leon Democrats Chairman Ryan Ray shared a statement Monday morning about Ausley’s recovery. “We send Senator Ausley our healing thoughts and prayers and wish her a full and speedy recovery,” Ray said.
