CMPD identifies man fatally shot in car in South Charlotte

Police have identified the victim in the south Charlotte shooting investigation as 18-year-old Zackay Reiken.

CMPD has arrested a 17-year-old suspect in connection with the shooting.

The youth was charged with murder and shooting into an occupied building.

Police are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead of a gunshot wound in a car in south Charlotte.

Around midnight, officers responded to James Blakeney Avenue near Rea Road in reference to an injury crash.

When police arrived, they found a man in a car with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic.

It is unclear at this time what led to the accident or shooting.
