Two more terrorists killed in encounter in Jammu after attack on army convoy – The Week

The other two terrorists were killed within two hours on Tuesday after joint teams of army and police launched the latest attack near Assan temple in Jogwan village of Battal-Khour area, officials said.
After overnight surveillance, ‘an intense firefight unfolded today morning, resulting in an important victory for our forces. Ruthless operations and tactical excellence have led to the elimination of three terrorists.
“The operation also saw the successful recovery of war-like shops, marking a crucial step in maintaining security in the region,” the Army’s Jammu-based White Knight Corps said in a post on X.
The officials said the slain terrorists are believed to have infiltrated from across the border on Sunday evening before appearing outside a temple and targeting the army convoy.
“After an overnight lull, security forces pressed for a final attack on the trapped terrorists around 7 a.m., leading to another exchange of fire,” an official said.
A pair of deafening explosions, followed by heavy firing, continued for more than an hour before the second terrorist was killed, the officials said, adding that the alternating firefight continued for another hour before the third captured ultra was eliminated.
A four-year-old brave army dog, Phantom, died during the operation after being hit by a bullet.
For the first time, the Army deployed its four BMP-II infantry fighting vehicles for surveillance and strengthening of the cordon around the attack site, while helicopters and drones were also deployed to locate the absconding terrorists.
The latest encounter in the Jammu region comes amid a spate of terrorist activities in Kashmir, where seven attacks have taken place in the past two weeks, leaving 13 people dead, including two soldiers.
