Brandon Lowe still out Friday – MLB News

14 seconds agoSecond baseman Brandon Lowe (toe) of the Tampa Bay Rays is not yet in the starting lineup for the season opener against the Washington Nationals on Friday. Lowe broke his right pinkie toe last Saturday and hasn’t played since. The Rays initially hoped he could avoid a trip to the injured list, but if Lowe can’t return to the field this weekend against the Nationals, he could be shelved until the All-Star break in mid-July. Speedy Jose Caballero will work second base again for the Rays on Friday. The 29-year-old Lowe continues to battle injuries and has not produced for fantasy managers at the plate when he has been on the field this year. He is currently hitting just .217/.316/.417 with five home runs, 22 RBI and 17 runs scored in 115 at-bats.Keith Hernandez-RotoBaller
