There are reportedly several factors that could prevent teams from acquiring wide receiver Cooper Kupp from the Los Angeles Rams before the November 5 NFL trade deadline.

During a performance on Thursday Get upESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter noted that teams could struggle to meet the Rams’ asking price and afford Kupp’s contract:

β€œIt appears the Rams are at least open to offers for Cooper Kupp. The problem is there aren’t that many teams in the league that can afford to pay what the Rams would ask in return and the salary of Cooper Kupp for a contract. An aging veteran at this time of year. Cooper Kupp may have more value to the Rams than anyone else. There aren’t many teams that need a player like that player, and be able to make it. That’s the problem, even though it could happen.”

Kupp signed a three-year, $80.1 million extension in 2022 and is under contract through 2026. He has a salary cap hit of $29.78 million this season and next season, and a $27.33 million cap hit in 2026, per Spotrac.
