Assistant fire chief dies after being injured in equipment accident

PERRYTON, Texas (KFDA/Gray News) – An assistant fire chief in Texas died Thursday from his injuries while responding to a building fire, fire officials said.

Scott Glass was the assistant fire chief of the Perryton Fire Department.

Glass and two other firefighters were injured while setting up equipment, fire hoses and traffic control after a 5-inch soft fire hose filled with water struck them.

The department updated its Facebook page with the news of Glass’s death.

Perryton Fire EMS asked people to respect the privacy of Glass’ family as they mourn the loss.

The department said they will post details about the Glass service as they become available.
