Pedestrian, two motorcyclists and a driver are killed in separate collisions

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – This past weekend was deadly on area roads, with four people – including two motorcyclists and a pedestrian – dying in traffic accidents.

Here is a breakdown of the fatalities:

Lincoln County

A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in Lincoln County Sunday morning.

According to Coroner Tim Quarles, the crash happened in the 2200 block of Augusta Highway near Partridge Town Road.

Gerald Mickens, 42, of Lincolnton, died after being struck around 4:40 a.m

North Augusta

Two motorcycles collided Sunday on Jefferson Davis Highway, leaving one dead and one in serious condition, authorities said.

According to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office, 47-year-old Troy J. Johnson of Pamplico, SC, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at 5:05 a.m. The accident happened around 4:15 am

At least seven dead after Sapelo Island dock collapse.

The crash happened near the intersection of Jefferson Davis Highway and East Buena Vista Avenue.

According to the Aiken County coroner, a group of motorcyclists were riding on Jefferson Davis when one person lost control and struck another person.

One motorcycle struck a guardrail and several signs.

Aiken County

In Aiken County, 26-year-old motorcyclist Patrick Laorenzo of Morton Avenue died after colliding with a pickup truck.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened Saturday around 9 p.m. at Rudy Mason Parkway and Wrights Mill Road.

Laorenzo was riding a 2002 Honda motorcycle on Rudy Mason Parkway when it collided with a Chevrolet truck trying to turn onto the parkway from Wrights Mill Road, officials said.

The Aiken County coroner’s office says Laorenzo died from his injuries. He was pronounced dead at 9:45 p.m

No one in the truck was injured.

Toxicological analysis is pending.

Province of Oranjeburg

In Orangeburg County, a Chevrolet sedan was traveling eastbound on Interstate 26 when it went off the right side of the road Saturday night.

According to officials, the accident happened at midnight.

According to police, the vehicle overturned and the driver died.

The driver was the only occupant in the car.
