Ezra Mam under NRL integrity unit investigation after Brisbane Broncos star’s car crash

Brisbane Broncos star Ezra Mam is facing an NRL Integrity Unit investigation after allegedly failing an initial roadside drug test following a car crash.

Mum was joined by police at hospital on Friday evening after being involved in a crash in the Brisbane suburb of Bardon.

He had scans on his head after the collision but was later released and the injury is not believed to be serious.

Mom underwent an initial roadside drug and alcohol test, where AAP was told he had returned a positive result for drugs.

The 21-year-old was then ordered to carry out a second drug test using blood samples, with police awaiting the results.

“Police are investigating a two-vehicle traffic accident in Bardon last night, October 18,” police said in a statement.

Initial investigations indicate that a Ford Ranger business was traveling north-east along Simpsons Road at around 5.20pm when it struck a Toyota Camry traveling in the opposite direction, near the intersection of The Drive.

“The first roadside drug tests were carried out on the utility driver, a 21-year-old man from Ipswich; however, police are awaiting further results.

“No one was seriously injured and investigations continue. No one is in custody.”

The Broncos immediately notified the NRL integrity unit on Friday evening and are still trying to get further clarity on the drug testing.

Club welfare officers attended the scene of the accident and were in constant contact with Mom.

It is the second drama Mam has faced since the end of Brisbane’s horror season, after the NRL investigated an interaction between Mam, teammate Reece Walsh and a fan in Bali last month.
