Burnt body of Bangladeshi woman found: Police sources say there is no sexual assault in Krishnanagar death case

A day after the body of an 18-year-old woman was found half-burnt and partially nude in West Bengal’s Nadia, police sources revealed that the preliminary post-mortem report shows no signs of sexual assault, strangulation or external injuries.

The report suggests that the burns on her face were the result of self-immolation, and that the injuries were ante-mortem in nature, implying that they occurred before her death, sources said.

The charred body of the class 11 student was discovered near the office of the Superintendent of Police in Krishnanagar on Wednesday. According to police, the woman had been missing since Tuesday evening and her family was looking for her when the gruesome discovery was made.

Earlier, the victim’s friend was arrested based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family. He has since been arrested, although police have not yet confirmed his involvement in the death. The family had raised suspicions about the boyfriend after the woman did not return home, and they were unable to get straight answers from him about her whereabouts.

Local residents discovered the body during their morning walk and immediately alerted the police, who arrived on the scene and transported the remains to a hospital.

Authorities are also investigating a cryptic social media message that appeared on the woman’s profile the night she went missing. The post, which stated that no one would be responsible for her death, has raised questions about the events leading up to the incident.
