Worcester man charged in connection with death of 4-year-old daughter

A Worcester man is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing in connection with the fall death of his daughter on Tuesday.

Francisco Ortiz, 34, of Worcester, was charged with assault and battery on a child causing substantial injury, assault and battery, two counts of permitting injury to a child and recklessly endangering a child.

On Oct. 15 around 4:30 p.m., police arrived at a home in Worcester for a report of a four-year-old child who had fallen to the floor and was unresponsive, according to a court document. Ortiz allowed police into his home and was the only adult in the home.
