Byker shooting: Man injured in gun attack

A man has been shot and injured in a gun attack.

Firearms officers were among those sent to the scene of the shooting in the Headlam Green area of ​​Byker, Newcastle, just before 2pm BST on Wednesday.

The victim, in his 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment, but police said his injuries are not life-threatening.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested and is being held for questioning.
