State issues end with athletic trainer accused of relationship with JISD student

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – A state agency has issued a cease and desist order against a former Jacksonville ISD athletic trainer accused of sexual assault of a minor.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Registration issued the order in August 2024 and confirmed it in a Tuesday release.

Kyle Warren Kingrey, 28, of Tyler was issued a cease and desist order for continuing to work as an athletic trainer while his license and board certification were suspended.

Kingrey was arrested in November 2023 after Jacksonville ISD was notified of an alleged inappropriate relationship between Kingrey and a student. Kingrey worked for an outside entity that JISD used for athletic training, the district said at the time. He was taken to the Cherokee County Jail and released at a later date.

Kingrey’s athletic trainer license was suspended on November 17, 2023, as the investigation into the claims continues.
