Phillip Schofield announces mother’s death after ‘heartbreaking weekend’ – The Irish Times

Former This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield said: “I love you mum forever” as he announced her death.

The 62-year-old shared a series of photos as he announced his mother had passed away on Monday afternoon after a ‘heartbreaking weekend’.

“For three days we held her, loved her, hugged her and said everything that needed to be said,” Schofield said on his Instagram Story.

“She was calm, peaceful, beautiful and dignified. I will forever be proud and privileged that she was my mother.”

Schofield said his mother joined his father, her “beloved Brian,” who died in 2008.

He continued: “Our eternal gratitude to the paramedics. Treliske A&E and Critical Care team who have been my mother’s and our angels in the past and this weekend. Your love and care have been our savior.

“I love you mommy forever,” Schofield added, with a heartbreak emoji.

He later shared a video of a plane flying overhead and captioned it: “God, I loved her for wanting to do this. One of the oldest ladies ever to walk on wings.”

It comes after Schofield starred in the Channel 5 program Cast Away, where he discussed leaving ITV in May 2023 after admitting to having a secret affair with a younger male colleague.

The show saw Schofield spend ten days alone on a small island off the coast of Madagascar, in his first return to a TV series since leaving ITV. – PA
