Jets get CJ Mosley back for ‘MNF’ game with Bills

Jets linebacker and defensive captain CJ Mosley, who missed the past three games due to a toe injury, will return to the field Monday night to play against the Bills, The Post has learned.

“Yeah, definitely,” Mosley told The Post after practice on Saturday about his plan to play. “I’m definitely looking forward to getting on the field. It felt good this week. Obviously it’s going to be painful, but it’s gotten to a point now where I feel mentally good about going out there and playing. I’m not sure how much, but to help make a difference.”

Mosley believes the plan will be to spend time with Jamien Sherwood, who has filled in for him admirably in his absence.

“I haven’t had a full week of practice like I normally do, so to go out there and play 60 or 70 snaps probably wouldn’t be the best thing for me or for the defense,” Mosley said. “Jamie has done a great job in everything he has done and he has earned his playing time. So we certainly don’t want to take away his momentum.”

Mosley said: “The goal was to build up my reps and build my confidence because the first few days there (in practice) I was a little timid thinking about the foot.

“But this week I’m just trying to be 100 percent myself, so I’m feeling pretty good.”

Jets interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich did not announce an official playing time designation for Mosley on Saturday, but it is likely he will be listed as questionable and suit up.

“He’s had a really good week, so we’ve been steadily progressing him in terms of the reps he’s doing in practice,” Ulbrich said. “He felt the best he’s ever felt this week, so we’re hopeful.”

Asked how much Mosley could play given how well Sherwood has performed in his place, Ulbrich said: “They all get a chance to play. CJ is such an established leader on this team and he’s been playing at such a high level for so long that there will definitely be a role for him when he’s dressed.

“At the same time, there are a lot of sets where we have three linebackers on the field, so there will be opportunities for both guys to be on the field.”

The only player Ulbrich has designated as out for the game is CB Michael Carter II, who hurt his back in pregame last week.

Ulbrich was excited about Isaiah Oliver, who replaced Carter last week and played well.

“He’s the Swiss Army Knife,” Ulbrich said. ‘He’s such a rare individual. ‘MC’ gets hurt during the pre-match, not like when we are in pajamas a few hours before the match, we are talking about 15 minutes before the ball is kicked off. So that is a challenge.”

Ulbrich said he asked Oliver before the game, “Can you play Nickel?”

“Yes,” Oliver told him.

“What calls are you comfortable with?” Ulbrich said.

“All of them,” Oliver replied.

“In the locker room I hand him the call sheet and he looks at it front to back and says, ‘Just name it all,’” Ulbrich said. “To have a player like that, from a coaching perspective, it brings you so much security. He is invaluable to what we are trying to achieve here.”

The other players on the injury report — TE Tyler Conklin (hip), T Morgan Moses (knee), DL Leki Fotu (hamstring) and Sherwood, who hurt his hand Friday — all participated in practice Saturday and are expected to play.

Aaron Rodgers, who has been limited in training due to the ankle injury he sustained during last week’s match in London, has looked “really good all week,” according to Ulbrich.

“He’s a magician in terms of the work he puts into his body and all the recovery and everything else,” Ulbrich said. “He looks like Aaron, which is fantastic, as we all know.”
