Díaz-Canel urged to increase tax control in Holguín

The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CCPCC), Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermudez, urged on Thursday to increase tax control measures to help the fiscal surplus of the territories during the session of the Extraordinary Plenary Session of the Provincial Committee held in Holguin.

At the meeting, the president insisted on the need to eliminate crimes against the treasury committed by new forms of management, whether tax evasion or under-declaration, the reduction of illegal trade, price inflation and the imposition of fines corresponding to such facts, so that they do not affect the state budget and the income of the population in general.

He also emphasized on the importance of the entities to assume their social responsibility in a timely manner and to advance in the processes of neighborhood transformation and attention to vulnerable groups, where he acknowledged the continuity of the project for the construction of children’s houses as an alternative for working families.

Díaz-Canel also checked the development of food production in the province, where he emphasized the control of contracted land so that there is a coherent distribution of what is produced and the purchasing power of wages is increased by reducing costs due to the growth of supply .

In this regard, I have learned that the region fulfilled its commitments in the spring campaign, is advancing with the cold campaign, the movement of land is prioritized and urban, suburban and family agriculture are promoted, although there are problems with the cultivation of yucca, Malanga and plantain and the coverage of the demand for milk.

In that sense, the first secretary of the PCC Provincial Committee in Holguin, Joel Queipo Ruiz, explained that the Provincial Council of Science and Innovation has been created, and the incubation of development programs such as the planting of genetically improved corn and soybeans, the creation of banked zones and other initiatives, as in agriculture, taking into account that 93% of Holguin’s lands are category III and IV, that is, very little productive, so here it is obliged to use science in function of animal and human feeding.

For his part, Governor Manuel Francisco Hernández Aguilera reviewed the behavior of the economic indicators of a province which, at the end of August, for example, was able to reduce expenses by more than 236 million pesos, and grew in income by more than 783 million pesos, which has allowed it to reduce the planned fiscal deficit by almost 200 million pesos.
