Weezer and Sharon Van Etten Share New Tom Petty Covers of the ‘Bad Monkey’ Soundtrack: Listen

Bad monkeythe Apple TV+ comedy-noir show starring Vince Vaughn, is set in the Florida Keys and has a fun gimmick. The show’s soundtrack is a tribute album dedicated to the late, great Floridian Tom Petty, and each episode features several major artists performing Petty’s songs. That soundtrack has been out for a week now, so we’ve already posted Eddie Vedder’s ‘Room At The Top’, Jason Isbell’s ‘You’re Gonna Get It’, The War On Drugs’ ‘You Wreck Me’ and Kurt Vile’s ‘Sins of my youth’. The season is almost over and the full soundtrack album is now out, which means we get to hear some more covers.

We already have so many songs from the Bad monkey soundtrack, but the release of the full album means we’re getting a few more. Weezer, a band with many covers in their arsenal, has taken on Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ ‘Here Comes My Girl’. Damn the torpedoes classic. Sharon Van Etten has now shared her version of the oft-covered Petty’s solo Full Moon Fever anthem ‘I Won’t Back Down’. Listen to both covers below.

The Bad monkey soundtrack is now available on WaterTower Music.
